Your Morning Orioles

How many baseball sites do you check in the morning? For me, it’s five:

  • the final score from yesterday’s game on ESPN (1)
  • Fangraphs (2) and Baseball Reference (3) to check the O’s post-season probabilities
  • AL East standings on ESPN (4) to figure out why the probabilities changed like they did
  • the Orioles home page on ESPN (5) to see when they play next

Is it a big effort? No. But I’d rather get all that information in one place without having to click around so much.

That’s why I created Your Morning Orioles, an email that shows up in my inbox at 5:30 am every morning. It retrieves all the information that I normally look up, and puts it in an easy to digest email along with the rest of my morning diet.

Honestly, it’s probably not for everyone

I’m happy to send the morning Orioles email to others that are interested. But I would rather not send emails to people who aren’t going to read them. It’s probably not for you if any of these apply to you:

  • You have never heard of FanGraphs
  • You aren’t interested in statistics
  • You don’t have an email address

But other than that, if you’d like to get a recap of “what happened, what does it mean, and what’s next” straight in your inbox every morning, you can sign up here.

And if you ever want to be removed from the daily email, there’s a one-click Unsubscribe link.

The Bull City AI consortium

Hi, I’m Zack. I live in Durham and run a small online-business around college lacrosse statistics. I’m just starting to explore how I can use AI (specifically the new tools like ChatGPT) to make my work easier more productive. So far, it’s been very promising.

Since I’m in the early stages with this effort, I thought it would be a great time to get together with other Durham business owners to share some ideas and questions about how others are using AI in their businesses.  I’ve read a lot about the different ways that larger organizations are using AI, so I know that just about every business could be using this stuff. I’m curious about how it’s being used locally.

Nothing formal, just a small get-together somewhere close. Whether you are curious about the new technology or have already encountered some obstacles/successes in your own business, I think it could be a fruitful discussion. Worst case, you meet some other local business operators with an interest in new technology.

If you’ve be interested in attending, fill out this Google Form. If there is sufficient interest, I’ll flesh out some more details. Hope is to do something before the end of July or early in August. (Frequency-every) (could be every|often|rarely|never)
